Approved Incoming Exchange Students

Students accepted into a Cal Poly College of Engineering Exchange Program, should follow the steps below to prepare for their time at Cal Poly.

Step #1: Review Cal Poly International Center's Website

Once students are accepted, they should review Cal Poly International Center's webpage for incoming students.  This site has details about cost of attendance, appropriate documents, housing, insurance, and much more.

Step #2: Prepare for Registration

Know when to register for courses

Incoming Exchange Students will register during the time designated for "Special Exceptions" during the 1st Round.  Exact registration day and times can be found under "Enrollment Appointments" for the quarter(s) attending.  It is highly encouraged that students register as soon as their enrollment period begins, classes at Cal Poly can fill up quickly.

Learn about Cal Poly's registration system

Students will register for courses using their Student Center, located through the my.calpoly.edu portal.  The Office of the Registrar outlines how to utilize the Student Center and the other registration tools on https://registrar.calpoly.edu/student-center.

Review course availability

Schedule Builder is an online system for viewing the class schedule for the upcoming quarter. The Office of the Registrar outlines how to use Schedule Builder on https://registrar.calpoly.edu/schedulebuilder.

Step #3: Register for Courses

Students should register via their Student Center.  However, it is common for incoming students to receive an error when registering because the system may not recognize the pre-requisite has been completed at the student's home institution.
