Catalog Changes (Blanket Subs)

Electrical Engineering Catalog Changes

These changes apply to EE majors only.

  • Students following the 2013-15 through 2017-19 catalogs who have switched majors may substitute BMED 101 or CE 111 or CPE 100 or ENVE 111 or IME 101 or MATE 110 or ME 128 AND 1-additional unit of Technical Electives or 1-additional unit of Engineering Support Electives for EE 111 + EE 151.  A petition is not required.
  • Students following the 2013-15 through 2017-19 catalogs who have switched majors may substute AERO 121 or BMED 101 + BMED 102 or CSC/CPE 123 or ENGR 110 or MATE 110 + MATE 120 or ME 128 + ME 129 or ME 229 for EE 111 + EE 151.  A petition is not required.
  • Students following the 2005-07 through 2017-19 catalogs can substitute BIO 111 (4 units) for BIO 213 (2 units) + ENGR/BMED 213 (2 units).  A petition is not required.  Note: BIO 111 can not be double-counted.  For example, if an EE student took BIO 111, the student can only receive credit for BIO/ENGR 213 -or- for an engineering support elective--not both.
  • Students following the 2011-13 through 2017-19 catalogs may use PHYS/EE 422 (4) for an Approved Engineering Support Elective.  A petition is not required.
  • Students who were originally accepted to Cal Poly as upper-division transfer students under the 2007-09 through 2017-19 catalogs may receive credit for EE 111 (1) by taking one additional technical elective unit or one additional engineering support elective and credit for EE 151 (1) by taking one additional technical elective unit or one additional engineering support elective. Petitions are not required.
  • Students following the 2013-15 through 2017-19 catalogs may substitute ENGR 459 + ENGR 460 + ENGR 461 (6 total units) for EE 460 + EE 461/463 + EE 462/464 (6 total units).
  • Students following the 2015-17 can substitute CPE/EE 129 (3) + CPE/EE 169 (1) for CPE/EE 133 (4).  A petition is not required.
  • Students following the 2015-17 can substitute CPE/EE 229 (3) + CPE/EE 269 (1) for CPE/EE 233 (4).  A petition is not required.
  • Students following the 2007-09 through 2013-15 catalogs my take EE 461 (2 units) for EE 461 (3 units) and department will waive the third unit, which reduces total units to degree by one unit.
  • Transfer students following the 2003-05 through 2017-19 catalogs may substitute 3 1/2 excess units from a CHEM 124 equivalent course + 1/2 excess unit from a PHYS 131 or 141 or 132 or 133 equivalent course for CHEM 125 (4). A petition is not required.
