Catalog Changes (Blanket Subs)

Computer Science Catalog Changes

These catalog changes apply to CSC majors only.

  • Students following the 2015-17 catalog may substitute STAT 321 (4) or STAT 542 (4) for STAT 312 (4).  A petition is not required.
  • Students following the 2009-11 through 2013-15 catalogs may take the following courses as technical electives: DATA 301, CSC 323, CSC 371, CSC 410, CSC 424, CSC 429, CSC 477.  Note: students should check DPR and catalog year to ensure they are meeting all technical elective requirements.
  • Students following the 2011-13 and 2013-15 catalogs may choose any approved GE C4 or GE D5 course to fulfill the Approved Support Electives.  Units can not be double counted to fulfill other degree requirements.  A petition is not required.
  • Students following the 2009-11 through 2015-17 catalogs may use CSC 400 for technical elective credit (limited to 4 total units).  A petition is not required.
  • Students following the 2009-11 through 2013-15 may substitute CSC 492 (2) for CSC 492 (3) and department will waitve the third unit, which reduces total units to degree by one unit.
  • Students following the 2015-17 catalog may substitute CSC 492 (3) for CSC 492 (2), the additional unit will count as a Technical Elective.  A petition is not required.
  • Students following the 2015-17 catalog may substitute CSC 141 (or transfer equivalent) if taken prior to Fall 2016 for CSC 348 (4).  A petition is not required.
  • Students following the 2009-11 through 2013-15 catalogs may substitute CSC 348 (4) for CSC 141 (4).  A petition is not required.
  • Students following the 2005-07 through 2011-13 catalogs may substitute BIO 111 (4) or BIO 115 (4) or BIO 161 (4) or BOT 121 (4) or MCRO 221 (4) or MCRO 224 (5) for BIO/ENGR 213 (4).  Units can not be double counted to fulfill other degree requirements.  A petition is not required.
  • Students following the 2011-13 catalog may substitute an additional CPE/CSC approved technical elective (4) for CSC/CPE 123 (4).  A petition is not required.  New students are strongly encouraged to take CSC/CPE 123.
