Catalog Changes (Blanket Subs)

Computer Engineering Catalog Changes

These catalog changes apply to CPE majors only.

  • Students following the 2013-15 through 2017-19 catalogs who have switched majors may substute AERO 121 or BMED 101 or CE 111 or EE 111 or ENVE 111 or ENGR 110 or IME 101 or ME 128 or ME 229 or MATE 110 for CPE 100.  A petition is not required.
  • Students following the 2015-17 and 2017-19 catalogs may use DATA 301 for technical elective credit.  A petition is not required.
  • Students following the 2009-11 through 2015-17 catalogs may use a maximimum of 4 units of CPE 400 for technical elective credit.  A petition is not required.
  • Students following the 2015-17 catalog may substitute CSC 141 (or transfer equivalent) if taken prior to Fall 2016 for CSC 348 (4).  A petition is not required.
  • Students following the 2009-11 through 2013-15 catalogs may substitute CSC 348 (4) for CSC 141 (4).  A petition is not required.
  • Students following the 2015-17 catalog may use CPE 450 (4) for CPE 450 (3).  The excess unit will count as an approved technical elective.  A petition is not required.
  • Students following the 2011-13 through 2013-15 catalogs can substitute CPE 450 (3) for CPE 450 (4) and department will waive the last unit, which reduces total units to degree by one unit.
  • Students following the 2005-07 through 2013-15 catalogs can substitute BIO 111 (4 units) for BIO 213 (2 units) + ENGR 213 (2 units).  A petition is not required.
  • Transfer students following the 2005-07 through 2017-19 catalogs may substitute 3 1/2 excess units from a CHEM 124 equivalent course + 1/2 excess unit from a PHYS 131 or 141 or 132 or 133 equivalent course for CHEM 125 (4). A petition is not required.
  • Students following the 2011-13 catalog may substitute an additional approved technical elective (4) for CSC/CPE 123 (4).  A petition is not required.  New students are strongly encouraged to take CSC/CPE 123.
