Engineering Student Services

Engineering Student Services strives to enhance academic success by providing support services. These services include the Engineering Advising Center, Multicultural Engineering Program and the International Exchange Program.  Our programs work in partnership with departments, industry, and students to enrich the academic journey of rising engineers.

Each of our professional advisors see students from all majors within the College of Engineering and each has an area of specialty.

 

How to Meet with an Academic Advisor   

The College of Engineering Academic Advisors are available for both drop-in advising and appointments.

Use the table below as a guide for whether your questions would best be answered during a first-come, first-serve drop-in session versus a scheduled appointment session.

Please call 756-1461 or stop by in person to schedule an appointment. We recommend planning ahead when scheduling appointments as we can fill up quickly during peak times in the quarter.

Drop-in versus Appointment Advising

Drop-In Advising (10-15 minutes)

Interpretation of university policies

Questions on how the university policies apply to your academic situation (grade forgiveness, Expected Academic Progress, etc.)

*Must be with the same advisor. If the advisor is not available, we recommend an appointment.

Advising By Email

When emailing the CENG Advising Center (eadvise@calpoly.edu), please email from your Cal Poly email account and include your name, major, EMPL ID and your question. PLEASE DO NOT email advisors to request an appointment. Please call our main office line at 805-756-1461 or stop by in person to schedule an appointment.

Faculty Advisors

Each student is also assigned to a faculty advisor in their major.  It is important for students to meet regularly with their faculty advisor. Faculty advisors  can help students with scheduling of classes, choosing courses in their major, deciding on an area of specialization, applying for internships and graduate programs, and providing mentoring.  Check the link below for how faculty advising works in your department:
