Withdrawal Procedures

During your college career you may have to make a change to classes or even take time away. Follow the steps below to review your options. For help or more information, stop by our office in building 40, room 115.

Step # 1: Review the University Policy

Step # 2: Review the CENG Withdrawal Process

Now that you have reviewed your options above, below is the process to follow for a course or term withdrawal within the College of Engineering (CENG).

CENG Course Withdrawal After the Add/Drop Deadline

Below is the process you will follow to withdraw from a course within the College of Engineering.

  1. Pick up the course withdrawal form from the Office of the Registrar (Building 01, Room 222). If you are not currently in the area, please contact the Office of the Registrar.
  2. Fill out the form with your personal information.
  3. Obtain your instructor's signature and comments.
  4. Print out and complete the College of Engineering Supplemental Questions. This is only needed for withdrawing from a CENG course.
  5. Drop off the College of Engineering supplemental questions and the Course Withdrawal form at Engineering Student Services (Building 40, Room 115).
  6. We will sign the Advisor signature and Associate Dean's signature then route it up to the Office of the Registrar.

Non-CENG Course Withdrawal After the Add/Drop Deadline

Below is the process you will follow to withdraw from a course outside of the College of Engineering. 

  1. Pick up the course withdrawal form from the Office of the Registrar (Building 01, Room 222). If you are not currently in the area, please contact the Office of the Registrar.
  2. Fill out the form with your personal information.
  3. Obtain your instructor's signature and comments.
  4. Drop off the Course Withdrawal form at Engineering Student Services (Building 40, Room 115) to gather the first round of signatures.
  5. Pick up the withdrawal form from Engineering Student Services after 10:00 a.m. two business days later.
  6. Drop off the Course Withdrawal form at the department offering the course and follow their instructions to receive the final signatures.
  7. Turn in the completed form at the Office of the Registrar by the deadline date listed on the form.

CENG Course Withdrawal After the 7th Week of Instruction

Below is the process you will follow to withdraw from a course within the College of Engineering after the 7th week of instruction. A withdrawal during this time is considered an Emergency Withdrawal and will require further documentation. 

  1. Pick up the course withdrawal form from the Office of the Registrar (Building 01, Room 222). If you are not currently in the area, please contact the Office of the Registrar.
  2. Fill out the form with your personal information.
  3. Obtain your instructor's signature and comments.
  4. Print out and complete the College of Engineering Supplemental Questions. This is only needed for withdrawing from a CENG course.
  5. Gather and attach any documentation for your withdrawal (ex: note from treating physician, note from psychologist, additional information describing your situation, etc.).
  6. Drop off the College of Engineering supplemental questions, documentation, and the Course Withdrawal form at Engineering Student Services (Building 40, Room 115).
  7. We will sign the Advisor signature and Associate Dean's signature then route it up to the Office of the Registrar.

Non-CENG Course Withdrawal After the 7th Week of Instruction

Below is the process you will follow to withdraw from a course within the College of Engineering after the 7th week of instruction. A withdrawal during this time is considered an Emergency Withdrawal and will require further documentation.

  7. Drop off the Course Withdrawal form at the department offering the course and follow their instructions to receive the final signatures.

Term Withdrawal

Below is the process you will follow to withdraw from the term as a student in the College of Engineering. A term withdrawal may impact your graduation timeline. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you want to discuss the impact of a term withdrawal.  

  1. Pick up the term withdrawal form from the Office of the Registrar (Building 01, Room 222). If you are not currently in the area, please contact the Office of the Registrar.
  2. Fill out the form with your personal information.
  3. Obtain signature from the Student Accounts Office (Building 01, Room 211) and Financial Aid Office (Building 01, Room 212).
  4. Print out and complete the College of Engineering Supplemental Questions.
  5. Drop off the College of Engineering supplemental questions and the Term Withdrawal form at Engineering Student Services (Building 40, Room 115).
  6. We will sign the Approver signature then route it up to the Office of the Registrar.
