| Software Engineering Catalog Changes |

These catalog changes apply to SE majors only.
- Students following the 2007-09 catalog may substitute CPE/CSC 108 (4) for CPE/CSC 102 (4). A petition is not required. CPE/CSC 108 is an accelerated course. Students without course credit for CPE/CSC 101 (4) will need to challenge CPE/CSC 101 in order to receive course credit.
- Students following the 2003-05 through 2007-09 catalogs may substitute CPE/CSC 225 (4) FOR CSC 353 (4). A petition is not required.
- Students following the 2003-05 through 2009-11 catalogs may substitute STAT 542 (4) for STAT 312 (4) and receive GE B6 credit. A petition is not required.
- Students following the 2005-07 catalog (or earlier catalogs) should take PHYS 141 rather than PHYS 131. This is an automatic substitution.
- Students following the 2003-2005 through 2007-2009 catalogs may substitute CPE 357 (4) for IME 430 (4). A petition is not required. Note: remember that courses can only be used in one area so CPE 357 cannot be used for a technical elective and IME 430.
- Students following the 2003-2005 through 2005-2007 catalogs may select MATH 437 (4) to satisfy the Math Elective (4). A petition is not required.
- Catalog Change for CSC 400: Total credit limited to 4 units, with a maximum of 2 units per quarter was changed to Total credit limited to 4 units. This change allows students to register for all 4 units in one quarter.
- Students following the 2003-2005 through 2005-2007 catalogs may substitute CPE X317 (4) or CPE 357 (4) for CPE 353 (4). A petition is not required.
- Students following pre-2005 catalogs may substitute CSC 430 (4) for CSC 330 (4). A petition is not required.
- Students following the 2005-2007 catalog may substitute CSC 330 (4) *if taken prior to Summer 2005* for CSC 430 (4). A petition is not required.
- Students following the 2003-2005 catalog will satisfy the prerequisites
for CSC 453, CPE 464, and CSC 330 once they have completed CSC 353. These prerequisite exceptions apply to SE majors only.

Students following the 2003-2005 catalog may substitute PSY 351 (4)
for PSY 350 (4). A petition is not required.

Students following the 2003-2005 catalog may substitute STAT 321
(4) if taken prior to Winter 2004 for STAT 312 (4). A petition is not
required. Petitions will be considered from students who took STAT 321 prior to changing their major to SE.

Students following the 2003-2005 catalog may use MATH 242 (4) taken
prior to Fall 2003 for MATH 244 (4). A petition is not required.

Students following the 2003-2005 catalog may substitute during the
2003-2004 academic year only--courses must be completed no later than Spring
2004--CPE X317/250 (4) and CPE 215 (4) for CPE 353 (4). CPE
215 (4) must be listed on the technical elective form to receive technical
elective credit (CSC 215 can only be used in the 2b or 2c technical elective
categories). A petition is not required (for CPE 353).
