Students seeking a change of major must meet the minimum change of major requirements (see links below) and demonstrate an approved change of major would not prolong their graduation date based on when they entered Cal Poly. Time to degree is a critical component to the change of major criteria. As a reminder, students who entered Cal Poly as freshmen are expected to complete their degree no later than the end of their 13th quarter (students who entered Cal Poly as transfer students are expected to complete their degree no later than the 7 to 9 quarters outlined under our Academic Expectations at http://www.eadvise.calpoly.edu/policy/probation.php). Students who meet both the minimum change of major criteria and our academic expectations for acceptable time to degree, have a very good chance of being accepted. It is highly unlikely that students who do not meet one or both of the criteria will be approved for change of major. Students interested in change of major within the College of Engineering should schedule an appointment with an academic advisor in the College of Engineering Advising Center.

Students must be in good standing at the time of transfer. Former engineering students who left Cal Poly on academic/administrative probation are not eligible to return as a change of major student.
