Environmental Engineering Catalog Changes

These catalog changes apply to ENVE majors only.

  • Students following the 2001-03 through 2007-09 catalogs can substitute STAT 542 (4) for STAT 312 (4) and receive GE B6 credit. A petition is not required.
  • Students following the 2005-07 catalog (or earlier catalogs) should take PHYS 141 rather than PHYS 131. This is an automatic substitution.
  • Students following the 1998-1999 to 2001-2003 catalogs may reduce their total units for graduation by one unit if EE 251 has not already been completed (if it has been completed, then it merely counts for that course requirement and cannot be used to satisfy any other requirement). A petition is not required. Note: EE 251 cannot be used to satisfy any graduation requirement on the 2003-05 catalog (that includes technical elective credit).
  • Students following the 1992-1994 to 2001-2003 catalogs may substitute ENVE 416 (4) for ENVE 316 (2). The excess two units from ENVE 416 may be used for technical elective credit by listing it on the technical elective form. A petition is not required.
  • Students following the 2003-2005 catalog may substitute CE 114 (if taken prior to Fall 2003) (4) for ENVE 111 (1). The excess three units from CE 114 are considered free elective credit only--no technical elective credit is allowed.
  • Students following the 2003-2005 catalog may substitute ENVE 316 (2) + two units of ENVE technical electives for ENVE 416 (4). A petition is not required.
  • Students following any catalog prior to the 2003-2005 catalog (who have not completed MATH 242 by Summer 2003) must take MATH 244 (4) instead of MATH 242 (4) beginning Fall 2003. Although Math 242 will continue to be offered at Cal Poly, it no longer has the course content required for engineering students. A petition is not required.
  • Students following the 2003-2005 catalog may use MATH 242 (4) taken prior to Fall 2003 for MATH 244 (4). A petition is not required.
  • Students following the 1992-1994 to 2001-2003 catalogs may take ENVE 466 (2) and ENVE 467 (2) instead of ENVE 461 (2) and ENVE 462 (2). Student do not need to process a petition if both sequential courses are taken. A petition is required if a student takes ENVE 461 (2) and ENVE 467 (2). Note: Although these courses substitute for each other, students may not use repeat credit for the purpose of increasing their grade point average (for example, ENVE 466 cannot replace an F grade in ENVE 461 even though ENVE 466 can substitute (with approval) for ENVE 461).
  • Students following the 1997-1998 to 2001-2003 catalogs who did not complete ENVE 442 (3) may add 3 units to their technical electives to cover ENVE 442 (3). A petition is not required. Students opting for the additional technical elective must list the course on their technical elective form.
  • Students following the 1997-1998 to 2001-03 catalogs may take ME 313 (3) or ENVE technical elective (3). A petition is not required. Students opting for the additional technical elective must list the course on their technical elective form.
  • Students following the 1997-1998 to 2001-03 catalogs may take ME 456 (4) or ENVE technical elective (4). A petition is not required. Students opting for the additional technical elective must list the course on their technical elective form.
