Change of major requests are approved based on meeting the minimum standards listed below and space availability in the respective program (single majors only). Upper-division students may not be accepted due to excessive units and other issues concerning time to graduation. Students in the B.A. in Liberal Studies and Engineering Studies (who were not previously in the College of Engineering) must meet the criteria for students transferring from outside of the College of Engineering for change of major purposes (double majors are not an option). Students who were previously in the College of Engineering and who elected to transfer to BA LAES will not be accepted back to the College of Engineering.

***College of Engineering (limited to students who were originally accepted within the College of Engineering) students transferring into CSC must complete:

1. CSC/CPE 101, CSC/CPE 102, CSC/CPE 141, and CSC/CPE 103.
2. These courses must be completed with a 2.75 gpa or higher.
3. The Cal Poly cumulative gpa must be a 2.75 or higher OR a 2.75 gpa in all degree applicable major and support coursework.
4. A minimum of eight units must be completed at Cal Poly.
5. Student cannot be on academic probation and must be at Cal Poly for a minimum of one quarter.
6. Student must meet with an academic advisor in the College of Engineering Advising Center regarding the above criteria ASAP and complete a change of major agreement.

7. Students who request to change their major late in their career may not be accepted into another major regardless if they meet the above criteria.

Exception to policy: students who were admitted originally to EE, CPE, or SE may change majors into CSC by completing a minimum of one quarter at Cal Poly and maintaining a 2.0 gpa for their current term, cumulative, and higher ed.

***Students transferring into CSC from outside of the College of Engineering must have completed (prior to their junior year):

1. CSC/CPE 101, Math 141, CSC/CPE 102, CSC/CPE 141, Math 142, and CSC/CPE 103.
2. These courses must be completed with a 2.75 gpa or higher.
3. If any of the above courses are taken more than once (e.g. a student receives less than a C- grade and wants to retake the course), both grades are averaged together to determine the 2.75 gpa requirement.
4. The Cal Poly cumulative gpa must be a 2.75 or higher OR a 2.75 gpa in all degree applicable major and support coursework.
5. Student cannot be on academic probation and must be at Cal Poly for a minimum of one quarter.
6. Student must meet with an academic advisor in the College of Engineering Advising Center regarding the above criteria ASAP and complete a change of major agreement.

***Students transferring into CSC from outside the College of Engineering with more than 89 higher education units (but no more than 110 higher education units) must complete:

1. CSC/CPE 101, 102, 103, 141, Math 141, 142, 143, 241 or 206, Phys 141, 132, and 133.
2. These courses must be completed with a 2.75 gpa or higher.
3. If any of the above courses are taken more than once (e.g. a student receives less than a C- grade and wants to retake the course), both grades are averaged together to determine the 2.75 gpa requirement.
4. The Cal Poly cumulative gpa must be a 2.75 or higher OR a 2.75 gpa in all degree applicable major and support coursework.
5. Student cannot be on academic probation and must be at Cal Poly for a minimum of one quarter.
