These catalog changes apply to CSC majors only.
-
Students following the 2000-01 through 2009-11 catalogs may
substitute STAT 312 (4) for STAT 321 (4). A petition is not
required.

Students following the 2001-03 through 2009-11 catalogs may
substitute STAT 325 (4) for STAT 322 (4) in the
Mathematics/Statistics elective. A petition is not required.

Students following the 2007-09 catalog may take CPE/EE 129 (3) +
CPE/EE 169 (1) or 4 units of CSC approved technical electives .
A petition is not required. Students who take a technical
elective must list the course on their technical elective form.

Students following the 2007-09 catalog may substitute CPE/CSC
108 (4) for CPE/CSC 102 (4). A petition is not required. CPE/CSC
108 is an accelerated course. Students without course credit for
CPE/CSC 101 (4) will need to challenge CPE/CSC 101 in order to
receive course credit.

Students following the 2001-03 through 2009-11 catalogs can
substitute STAT 542 (4) for STAT 312 (4) and receive GE B6
credit. A petition is not required.

Students following the 2005-07 catalog (or earlier catalogs)
should take PHYS 141 rather than PHYS 131. This is an automatic
substitution.

Students who have taken CSC 570 "Special Topics in
Graphics" with Professor Wood may petition to use this
course as a 1B technical elective on the 2003-05 or 2005-07
catalogs. Please attach a statement to your technical elective
form explaining why you believe this course should count towards
a 1B technical elective.

Students following the 2000-01 through 2007-09 catalogs may
substitute STAT 312 (4) for STAT 321 (4). A petition is not
required.

Students following the 2000-01 through 2001-03 catalogs may
substitute CPE X133 (4) for CPE/EE 219 (3) + CPE/EE 259 (1). A
petition is not required.

Students following the 2003-05 through 2005-07 catalogs may
substitute CPE X133 (4) for CPE/EE 129 (3) + CPE/EE 169 (1). A
petition is not required.

Students following the 2003-2005 catalog may substitute the
Approved Support Electives (8) (as they appear for the 2005-2007
catalog) for the Arts and Humanities GE Area C (4) + Society and
the Individual Elective GE Area D5 (4) located in the Support
Column (CSC Curriculum Sheet). A petition is not required.

For the 2005-06 academic year only, the prerequisite CPE 357
will be waived for CPE 308.
-
Catalog Change for CSC 400: Total credit limited to 4 units,
with a maximum of 2 units per quarter was changed to Total
credit limited to 4 units. This change allows students to
register for all 4 units in one quarter.

Students following pre-2005 catalogs may substitute CSC 430 (4)
for CSC 330 (4). A petition is not required.

Note: CSC 205 (4) is not an acceptable substitution for CSC 307
(4). Likewise, CSC 307 (4) is not an acceptable substitution for
CSC 205.

Note: CSC students who completed CSC 330 under Dr. Keen may
petition CSC 330 (4) for CSC 430 (4) for the 2005-2007 catalog.
A petition is required so the instructor of record can be
checked. Students who took CSC 330 from another instructor
(other than Dr. Keen) must take CSC 430 to receive credit under
the 2005-2007 catalog.

CSC 357 (4) is the replacement course for CSC 250 (4) (was CPE
X317 (4)) for pre-2005 catalogs.
-
CSC 308 (4) and CSC 309 (4) are the replacement courses for CSC
205 (4) and CSC 206 (4) for pre-2005 catalogs.
-
Students following pre 2003-2005 catalogs may substitute CSC
X225 (4) for CPE 229/269 (3)/(1) or CPE 215/X215. A petition is
not required.

Students following the 2003-2005 through 2005-2007 catalogs may
substitute CSC X225 (4) for CPE 229/269 (3)/(1). A petition is
not required.
-
Students following the 2003-2005 catalog may substitute CPE
215/X215 taken prior to Spring 2004 and completed with a C-
grade or higher for CPE 229 (3) and CPE 269 (1). A petition
is required because the grade must be verified before the
petition will be approved. Note: this substitution is unique to
CSC majors only.

Students following pre-2003 catalogs may substitute CPE 229/269
(3/1) for CPE 215 (4). This substitution is unique to CSC majors
only and should not be confused with the blanket substitutions
submitted by EE and CPE. A petition is not required.
-
CSC students planning to graduate under the 2003-05 catalog must
take ENGL 149. ENGL 148 will not substitute for ENGL 149 except
in the case of students who completed ENGL 148 prior to Fall
2003 under the 2001-03 catalog. These students will need to
petition for credit if they plan to graduate on the 2003-05
catalog (petitions are available in the Advising Center).

Students following the 1998-1999 thorugh 2000-2001 catalogs may
substitute ENGL 149 (4) for ENGL 148 (4). A petition is not
required.
-
Students following the 2003-2005 catalog may receive credit for
GE Area C (4) - located in the support column - if the student
is a transfer student from a community college and has a partial
GE Area C certification. A petition is not required.
-
Students following the 1998-1999 to 2001-2003 catalogs should be
aware that CPE X317 (4) will eventually become CPE/CSC 250 (4).
-
Students following the 2003-2005 catalog may substitute CPE X317
(4) for CPE/CSC 250 (4). A petition is not required.
-
Prerequisite changes - The prerequisites for CSC 453 in
the 2003-05 catalog are CSC 315 and CSC X317/250 or CSC 353.
Students who took CPE X317 will receive automatic credit for CSC
250. Students who are planning to graduate under pre-2003
catalogs and have not taken CPE X317, should plan on taking it
prior to CSC 453. CSC 250 or CPE X317 (but not both) will count
as a technical elective under the pre-2003 catalogs.

Prerequisite changes - The prerequisites for CSC X317/250
in the 2003-05 catalog are CSC 103 or CSC 109 and CPE 229.
Students planning to graduate on pre-2003 catalogs may satisfy
the CPE 229 prerequisite with CPE 215. Students planning to
graduate under the 2003-05 catalog must take CPE 229 (CPE 215
transfers to the 2003-05 catalog as free elective credit only).

Students following the 1992-1994 to 2001-2003 catalogs may
substitute EE 129 (3) for EE 219 (3). A petition is not
required.
-
Students following the 2003-2005 catalog may substitute EE 219
(3) for EE 129 (3). A petition is not required.
-
Students following the 1992-1994 to 2001-2003 catalogs may
substitute EE 169 (1) for EE 259 (1). A petition is not
required.
-
Students following the 2003-2005 catalog may substitute EE 259
(1) for EE 169 (1). A petition is not required.
-
Students following the 2001-2003 catalog may take ENGL 148 (4)
or ENGL 149 (4). A petition is not required.
-
Students following any catalog prior to the 2003-2005 catalog
(who have not completed MATH 242 by Summer 2003) must take
MATH 244 (4) instead of MATH 242 (4) beginning Fall 2003.
Although Math 242 will continue to be offered at Cal Poly, it no
longer has the course content required for engineering students.
A petition is not required.

Students following the 2003-2005 catalog may use MATH 242 (4)
taken prior to Fall 2003 for MATH 244 (4). A petition is
not required.

Students following the 1998-1999 to 2001-2003 catalogs may use
CSC/CPE 109 (5) to substitute for CSC/CPE 103 (4). The extra
unit applies to the free electives. A petition is not required.
Students without course credit for CSC/CPE 101 (4) and/or
CSC/CPE 102 (4) will need to challenge the course(s) to receive
course credit.

Students following the 1998-1999 to 2000-2001 catalogs may use
CSC/CPE 108 (5) to substitute for CSC/CPE 102 (4). The extra
unit applies to the free electives. A petition is not required.
Students without course credit for CSC/CPE 101 (4) will need to
challenge the course to receive course credit.

Students must complete the CSC technical elective
sequence. at Cal Poly.

Students must complete CSC/CPE 205 (4) and CSC/CPE 206 (4) at
Cal Poly.
